Moses' Humility

I liked how Moses was humble before God about his leadership.

Exodus 33:15-16
Then Moses said to him, "If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.  How will anyone know that you are pleased with me and with your people unless you go with us?  What else will distinguish me and your people from all the people on the face of the earth?"

He could have taken pride in his strength, confidence, intelligence, past victories, but he knew things would only be great if God was with him.  He didn't trust in anything else as his reason for being great.

I just realized this too as I'm reading; at the end of today's reading, Moses' face is radiant.  That is part of the evidence that God is with him and them.

Good point Justin. I loved that Moses was so straight forward w/ God when sharing what was on his heart. He could of backed down and just followed God's command and continued without God to the land of milk and honey...but instead he requested, demanded in a way: "If your presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here." He wasn't scared to speak up because he knew that our God is a fair and just God. And so what did God do? God decided he would be present with Moses once again on his journey because he was pleased with him.

Soo, with that said, it's definitely even more of a priority for me to please God now!!

Awwww I thought it was soooooo cool (and kinda heart warming) to see how God's feelings can get hurt (just like us)... there He was working with Moses on the covenant (the gravity of this covenant would prolly be comparative to a marriage proposal!)and the peeps are totally unfaithful already! God was so hurt He was ready to destroy them, start over, and make Moses "into a great nation"... awwwww He was so hurt :(, and although He relented from destroying them, He didn't even want to go with them to the promised land cuz He was sad :(.

It's cool to see how much God loved Moses prolly cuz Moses was so humble. And it's neat to see a glimpse here and there of Joshua (the leader in training), I never realized Joshua stayed up on the mountain the whole time with Moses and God.
