Questions

Hey family,

With all the laws that we have been reading, and it looks like we will be reading it through mid March, here are my questions..

1. Should I read every detail word for word?

2. What should I take away from reading these details?

Thanks for your help!!

Reading Leviticus is kinda like reading the manual to your operating system on your computer. Its all important stuff and the more you understand it, the easier it is to trouble shoot when things go wrong or when you need direction. It’s not the easiest thing to read but it is important if you’re working on computers. Back in those days the Israelites memorized this stuff and taught it to one another. Take for instance that one dude who was gathering wood on the Sabbath. He got stoned to death for breaching the law. So to them it was super important to know this stuff. So how does it apply to our life now? What do you think? If anything it give insight to how the Israelites lived back then. But I also think there are valuable lessons to be learned in reading the laws of God

I think you should read everything. It's God's word isn't it? I say just try to get as much out of it as you can. I feel like I'm getting more out of it this time around. So maybe next time you'll get more. Especially if this is your first time reading through the bible.

I can relate to the excruciating task of reading all the laws word for word. I'm one of those people who skim through instruction manuals and figures it out. I guess that tells a bit about my character. 8)
I had the same problem the last time I read through the bible in a year. Leviticus was where I had to stop for a moment and read Hebrews to remember that Jesus is the great high priest and thankfully we don't have to memorize all of these rules. I sometimes picture what daily life must've been like back then. Have even thought about a movie about it. When did they have time to play, dream...? =O I won't go into that tangent of how distracted we are today and the blessing for them was the focus. It must've taken a lot of themselves to keep on track or they could die!!! Of course there are similarities today for us on the Spiritual plane. I guess reading it helps me to be grateful for the blood of Christ. (Thank GOD!)
