Psalm 13

"How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart? How long will my enemy triumph over me?... But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me." Psalm 13

I am a pretty joyful person most times...but I must admit that there are days in which sadness can set in my heart. Not depression, just a feeling of uncertainty, questioning, loss. Last night was one of those days. (This could be a result of watching 3 straight movies w/ death, shooting, killing...etc. My bible talk had a fun movie marathon. :D heehee) But I think it is much deeper than the movies I watched.

I think that God puts these feelings in my heart to remind me to seek after him...to rely on him. I was moved to pray and sing songs. Though the initial sadness didn't go away, it allowed me to feel at peace. I can relate w/ David when he shares about how he must wrestle with his thoughts and feel sorrow in his heart. I believe it is going to be a daily battle to overcome challenges set before us. I have lots to be grateful for and many things going on to keep me focused on the right things. But the ultimate thing I can truly 100% look forward to is God's unfailing love and the promise of seeing him face to face in heaven.

I shall sing...sing loud and proud...for God is GOOD to me.

I sang this song to God this morning.

"I love you Lord and I lift my voice to worship you...oh my soul, rejoice. Take joy my KING, in what you hear, may it be a sweet, sweet sound...in your ears. May it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ears."

awwwww tina, I've been obsessing over figuring out some software glitches... so glad I was cuz I happened to notice and read ur post just now. Very moving and deep honey :). Poetry, prose, and def PSALMs are a struggle for me, I don't connect to heartsy stuff, my eyes cross a little when I read them I think haha, I have to read them a few times.

Thank you for sharing your heart and what impacted you, it impacted me :).

And 3 movies in a row is A LOT haha, you guys have endurance!

I liked this part of today's reading most...
"Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings..." Psalm 17:8

And I found the verse in Psalm 31:5 interesting "Into your hands I commit my spirit..." which are the exact words of Jesus in Luke 23:46. Kinda interesting to think that the words of the Bible are from God, that Jesus is God, that Jesus knew God's words, so He is quoting David's Psalm, but also quoting His own words because they are His words... haha dunno, I have always been fascinated by the OT verses quoted by Jesus.

Lastly, I am here if you need anything... love you :).

thx for stumbling across my post and responding so diligently as always. :D

I think you are more heartsy than you think. You sympathized with me just after reading a short post.

Yes, 3 movies was alot. Thankfully we took small breaks, had plenty of snacks and pizza! You are going to laugh hard when I tell you what they are: Road to Perdition, Letters to Iwo Jima and Get Smart! Mostly guy movies w/ violence and war! Gosh, it was ruthless!

I enjoy reading Psalms..esp the one about being the apple of God's eye. There is such depth to that saying. "apple of the eyes" is reference to the tiny reflection of yourself that you can see in other people's pupils. Well, God keeps us close to his sight, cherished above others. As sight is so precious, we are called this as an endearment of how precious we are to HIM. :)

Tera, I know I can count on you...even at 1AM! heehee! Next time, I will definitely ring you up and we can pray together! I love you too!
