The Lord of our plans

"In his heart a man plans his course,
but it is the Lord who determines his steps."

This proverb stuck out to me, and really shows to me how God is the Lord of our life, even if we don't let him be.  There can be things that we want, or plans that we have, but God may or may not give them to you the way you want.  I have to say that before I moved to CA I wanted to live in NY, but God sent me on a 5 year detour to the OC.  I can't say exactly why, but those were his steps.  So I think I kind of need to chill out with what I want to do.  Of course (i've been writing that alot lately) I'll still be in touch with my desires, but I need to wait to see what God does and let him lead me.  Besides if I take something, it won't last anyway if it's not from God.

Hmmm interesting thoughts Justin, I know your CA experience is a bit of a conundrum for you, I hope God helps you figure out the various reasons why He placed you here (in addition to the reason indicated in Acts 17:26-27).

Also, the verse you selected reminds me of Prov 19:21 ("Many are the plans of a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails")... both of which reminds me of your "If you build it, he will come" post; that we might pursue various ideas/plans, but it is God who determines (and bless) the plans that are in accordance to His will for us (and He always works things out for our good, Rom 8:28).
